COACHING BY THE EXPERTS TRACK AND FIELD THROWING EVENTS NTSC VID by ATHLETIC INSTITUTE

In this three videotape series, Americas top coaches introduce the fundamental skills and techniques used in each track and field event. Produced in conjunction with The Athletics Congress now U.S. Track and Field, the Coaching by the Experts series covers running events, jumping events, and throwing events on separate videotapes. With the help of slow motion and stop action photography, all three videos • show athletes how to perform the specific skills and use the correct technique for each event, • point out common mistakes in each event, and • provide drills to correct these mistakes. Track and Field Throwing Events provides teaching progressions for the shot put, discus, hammer throw, and javelin. With Tom Pagani, head coach at California State Fresno, providing commentary, this 45 minute video takes viewers step by step through the individual components of each event. For the shot put, discus, and hammer throw, athletes learn proper footwork, body rotation, weight distribution and balance, and release. The javelin segment demonstrates the approach, throwing motion, and release.
